On the left, you can see the original apartment is quiet large but the space is lost because of the furniture and the shape of the room.
The intention here is to make the new home more personal and aspirational. The woman who owns the apartment runs a business from it and wanted to create both a welcoming environment, where a large number of guests could meet and talk. And an environment where well being, success and health were constantly in her conscious awareness.

In the new apartment I've brought that sense of space back into the room through the use of panoramic framing, or wide screening.

By bringing down the ceiling and raising the percieved floor level the room is made to seem much larger. The pathway that wanders through the painting, away from the viewer also adds a sense of greater depth. The balaustrades separate the room from the landscape and ease the viewer into the new environment. The pillars give it a sense of wealth and prosperity.
